Boyfriends Relationship to Girlfriends Pet…
Is my boyfriends attitude towards my puppy a look into the future of what his attitude will be like if we have children together?
Since I have gotten my puppy 3 months ago I can’t help but wonder this. We don’t live together and the puppy was 100% my idea, which he reminds me off all the time. Currently I am working at home trying to get my freelance writing career going, he works at a radio station selling advertisements. His job can be stressful where mine is not. I must admit I am not the best trainer but when Tanner goes to the bathroom in my apartment I don’t complain, I just clean it up. Of course if I catch Tanner in the act I pick him up and quickly take him outside. Now when my boyfriend is over and Tanner does that my boyfriend begins to tell me what he believes I am doing wrong. He will say things like “You really should take him outside every hour” I don’t see my boyfriend jumping up off the couch to take him out. In the middle of the night when Tanner needs to go out my boyfriend will nudge me and tell me. Hello! Why can’t he take Tanner out? I am with Tanner everyday and night where my boyfriend is not. I remind him that and he says that he has a job and cant be tired where as I do not have a job, in his eyes I guess.
Now on the other hand my boyfriend also does great things for Tanner and myself. He has bought tons of things that I needed for Tanner like gates, stairs, food, etc. He came and took Tanner out while I had to work all day at an event, he brings paper towels over when I ask and he does love us both.
I just can’t help but wonder if we ever have a child together will it be the same as it is with Tanner. Will I be the one always changing diapers? Will he criticize my way of handling the baby? Is it going to be okay if I am beyond tired since I work at home and he doesn’t? When I have asked him these questions first he gets mad and says I don’t appreciate him and then he says the puppy wasn’t his idea and if we have a child it will be something we both want. He says a child will be different. I just cant help but wonder if that is true….
