Reality Shows Looking For Love

Do you watch the Bachelor or Bachelorette? I must admit that when that show first started I did watch it. There was just something addictive about it. If you start to watch from the beginning and you get to know each person (or should I say character) then you want to know what happens next. I am still not sure how I feel about the concept of the show. Can you really find love on TV?

They are now accepting applications for the next bachelor. Therefore if you want to start watching from the beginning now is the time! I promise I wont tell on you!

I Know This Much Is True: A Novel (P.S.)

Amazon.com ReviewOprah Book Club® Selection, June 1998: What if you were a 40-year-old housepainter, horrifically abused, emotionally unavailable, and your identical twin was a paranoid schizophrenic who believed in public self-mutilation? You’d either be a guest on the Jerry Springer Show or Dominick Birdsey, the antihero, narrator, and bad-juju magnet of I Know This Much Is True. Somewhere in the recesses of this hefty 912-page tome lurks an honest, moving account of one man (more…)

Dreams vs Reality

Filed under A Girl Can Dream by Amanda

Sunday night I had such an intense dream. I was back in High School and everything was the same. My mom and brother were alive, I was dating my High School boyfriend, had all the same friends and I was happy. Right before I woke up I was running through the Boston Commons with my friend Shebbie when I dropped my keys. I bent down to grab and when I stood up I was all alone. Shebbie had left and it was all of a sudden night time and then I woke up.

I didn’t think much about it when I woke up. Dreams are weird and to be honest I have always had very intense dreams. My roommate and I took Tanner to the park and lunch. It was a normal day.

Around 11 pm Tanner and I got into bed. As soon as I closed my eyes I was right back in my dream where I had left off. I was standing in Boston Common at night time holding my keys and was alone. Well the dreamed continued (I won’t bore you all with it) but when I woke up this morning it made me wonder.

What if reality was actually what happened in your sleep and when you were awake you were actually living a dream?

I am having a hard time explaining this but let me try again.

When you wake up in the morning everything is the same as when you went to bed. You have the same job, friends, home, etc. Then at night time you go to bed and dream. Now the past two nights when I went to bed I was in the same place, with the same friends, wearing the same thing, etc. Weird? Or no?

Just a Tuesday morning deep thought …. Think about it ….

What Does It Mean When You Keep Having Recurring Dreams About An Ex-boyfriend?

Dear A,

I keep having dreams..4 nites in a row now about my ex. He joined the Army a few years ago and is now in Korea from what I’ve heard. In a few dreams, I dream that he comes back to visit me. In last nite’s dream, I dreamt that I saw him but he didn’t look anything like himself and I dreamt that I wasn’t attracted to him but I still wanted him. These dreams are digging up old memories that bring back heartache. What do they mean?

Thanks

Back In Boston

I have returned to Boston and I am happy to say that my puppy Tanner and I made it through the weekend apart. It was so great seeing my friend and celebrating her 30th birthday with her. I am always surprised how comfortable I feel when I see her. We have been best friends since 4th grade but after High School we both went to different colleges out of state. Since college she has been living in New York and I have been in Boston. We talk on the phone but not every day. I always get my self all worked up about visiting and then when I see her its like we are back in High School and we had never been apart.
Another little thing I must admit is that New York is starting to grow me. I have always hated New York (sorry New Yorkers) because I felt intimidated by it. I always feel lost when I go there but I am starting to realize that it is not much different than Boston. You have your friends and that is what matters. The big difference is New York has much more to offer. The first night I was there we went to some bar/club until 4am and that would never happen in Boston.
New York might want to work on Penn Station though. It has the most ridiculous way off telling people what track there train is on. Everyone stands around this huge board waiting till their gate is shown and then everyone runs there. It is like a cattle call. Horrible!!
Well all in all I had a wonderful time, Tanner is great, and once again I have been reminded that true friendship never dies!

Off To NYC

Today I am off to NYC for my best friends birthday party! Today is also the day I will leave Tanner (my puppy) alone over night. It is strange how attached I have become to Tanner. He can sense when something is bothering me and vice versa. My roommate will be home with him all weekend but still makes me nervous. I know “he is just a dog” everyone BUT how do we really know how what they are feeling? It is not like they can tell us or I can drunk dial him tonight and see if he is okay…. Well I gotta get ready so I can catch my train! Have a great weekend everyone!!
xoxo
